Mr. Callie Cleston Riddell, 89 of Niles, died Monday evening peacefully in his sleep at Trumbull Memorial Hospital following a short illness, surrounded by his loving family. He was born April 15, 1924 in Michie, Tennessee the youngest child of the late John David and Minnie Ethel Morgan Riddell. He had been a Trumbull county resident since 1950. Callie retired in 1982 from the U.S. Steel McDonald Works after 30 years service. He thoroughly enjoyed hunting, fishing and yardwork, even mowing his neighbors' lawns this summer. Most of all, he loved spending time with his family and listening to country and gospel music. Callie is survived by his wife of seventy years, Hattie Inez Davis Riddell, whom he married July 17, 1943. They just celebrated their 70 years together in July at a surprise party for family and friends at New LIfe Lutheran Church. He is also survived by two sons, Jim (Trudy) of Vienna and Larry (Sandy) of Cortland; two daughters, Patty (Bill) Wilson of Bradenton, Fla. and Debbie (Tim) Martin of Lorain; ten grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren, with number 14 due anyday. Also he leaves behind his beloved cat, Tabby. Three sisters, Opal Massengill, Mildred Woods and Annie Boggs and three brothers, Troy, Henry and Doyle Riddell all have preceded him in death. The funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, October 10, 2013 at Lane Family Funeral Homes, Roberts-Clark Chapel in Warren, where the family will receive friends from 11 a.m. to 1p.m. prior to the service Thursday.
