Carl L Jarvis

Carl L. Jarvis, age 93, of Howland Township, died at 5:55 p.m. Saturday, September 11, 2010, at his home. He was born November 23, 1916 in Clymer, Pa. the son of the late Robert and Mary St. Clair Jarvie. He had been a Howland resident most of his life. Carl served in the Army as a Private in the Auxiliary Military Police at the Lordstown Ordinance Depot during World War II. He drove school bus No. 13 for 35 years for the Howland Local Schools, and was known as "Uncle" to the students. He owned and operated Jarvis Auto Repair in Howland with his son, Don, until his retirement in 1979. Carl enjoyed hunting, until the age of 92, in the hills of Pennsylvania with his son-in-law, Dennis Hamilton. His wife, Zelma K. "Sally" Lamer Jarvis, whom he married July 1, 1934, preceded in death January 31, 2007. One son, Carl David "Butch" Jarvis and six brothers and one sister have also preceded him in death. Surviving are a son, Don L. (Diane) Jarvis, two daughters, Mary Lou Jarvis and Carol A. (Dennis) Hamilton and a daughter-in-law, Lynn Jarvis all of Howland; 9 grand children, Carrie (Rick) Kossler of Columbus, Donald Jarvis of Warren, Dennis (Christina) Hamilton of Rising Fawn, GA, David (Rita) Hamilton of Warren, Colleen (Angelo) Fakkas of Howland, Corey (Joyce) Jarvis of Canfield, Travis Stewart of Somerset, Pa., Heather (Charlie) Lamancusa of Fowler and Carlyn Hurst of Warren; 14 great grand children and 13 great great grandchildren. Private family services will be at 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, September 15, 2010 at Roberts-Clark Funeral Chapel in Warren. Burial will be at Crown Hill Burial Park in Vienna. Graveside military honors will be held. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of the Valley, 5190 Market Street, Youngstown, 44512-2198.
