A memorial service will be held 11 AM Saturday at Tabernacle Evangelical Presbyterian Church for Clifford Stere, 93, of Canfield who passed away early Tuesday morning at his home. Clifford was born March 3, 1914 in Ligonier PA, the son of Boyd A. and Mary (Swartz) Stere and came to the area as a child. He was a graduate of Scienceville High School and was an Army Veteran serving in the Pacific Theater during WWII. He was the owner of Stere Woodworking until his retirement in 1983. Cliff was a member of the church and had been a trustee, and was also a member of the Eastern Ohio Conservation Club. His hobbies included genealogy, hunting and fishing. He leaves his wife the former Erna Brenner whom he married February 5, 1949, three children; Boyd (Ann) Stere of Kent, Nancy (Richard) Scullin of New Waterford, and Lee of Canfield, one sister; Maxine Stathopulos of Marietta OH, and two grandchildren; Sean Scullin and Katherine (Joel) King. Besides his parents, Cliff was preceded in death by a sister Mardelle Crytzer. Family and friends may call from 10 AM until 11 AM Saturday at the church. In lieu of flowers the family request material tributes take the form of donations to the church memorial fund or Forum Hospice at Home Health Care in Clifford’s name. Arrangements are by Lane Funeral Home Canfield Chapel.
