Daniel D. Kumher

Daniel D. Kumher, age 84 of Cortland passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Thursday, May 16, 2024. He was born in Wauseon, OH on November 3, 1939, to the late Stephen and Anna Kumher.

Dan was a loving husband, father, and Papa. He was a graduate of Gustavus High School with the class of 1957. He met the love of his life Judy escorted her to her senior prom and proposed. They were married six months later and spent 62 wonderful years together.

He began his career as a pipefitter and machine builder at Taylor-Winfield, moving to Wean United and retired from Alcan Aluminum and spent many years at Governor Farms. Dan was known for his love of gardening, all things mechanics, and farming. His greatest joy in life was time spent with his precious family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Lee Sechler; brothers, Louis and John, and grandson, Lucas Clay

He is survived by his wife, Judith Kumher; children, Janet (Tim) Thompson, Laurie Kumher, and Stacey (Mike) Rozzo; grandchildren, Danielle (Dan) Dyer, Jenna Thompson, Jordan (Sarah) Clay, Noelle Barnes, and Hayden Rozzo; great grandchildren, Aiden Collenette, Delaney Lehmann, Drew Clay, Brooke Dyer; brother, Carl (Sue) Kumher and sister-in-law, Joan Kumher.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the doctors and nurses of Hospice House Poland for their outstanding care and support.
