Austintown

David G. Schnurrenberger, 75, of Austintown, died Monday morning, June 17th, after a brief illness, surrounded by his family, at the Hospice House in Poland.

He was born August 26, 1948 in Youngstown, a son of John A. and Helen V. (Neff) Schnurrenberger.

David was a 1967 graduate of Austintown Fitch High School where he excelled in basketball. He went on to earn a Bachelor’s Degree of Business Administration from Youngstown State University. He was a member of the Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity and he was later a staff representative for the National Sig Ep Fraternity in Richmond, VA. He worked in management for Firestone Tire followed by a 33-year career as a systems analyst for the Delphi Packard Electric Corp. in Warren, retiring in 2010.

He is survived by his devoted wife of 50 years, the former Karen S. Johns who he married on August 18, 1973.

David was an active member of the Austintown Community Church where he served as a Deacon, Elder, and past President of the Consistory, along with several other committees. He was a former member of the Austintown School Board of Education and the Austintown Kiwanis Club, serving also as past President of both. David enjoyed outdoors, hiking in the woods, fishing, and tapping trees for maple syrup. In addition, he had a love of sports and prioritized time to coaching each of his children and cheering on his grandchildren at their events. David valued the importance of a good education and a strong work ethic in all areas of life. His greatest joy was spending quality time with his family, whom he dearly loved.

Besides his wife, David is survived by three children; David W. Schnurrenberger, of Austintown, Katie S. (Keith) Arthurs, of Alliance, and Daniel C. (Caitlin) Schnurrenberger, of Austintown. He also leaves behind a sister, Margaret (John) Remias, of Austintown; nine cherished grandchildren; Liam and Logan Schnurrenberger, Camden, Adelaide, and Lennon Arthurs, and Johnnie, Taylor, Grayson, and Carter Schnurrenberger; and his beloved Golden Retriever and constant companion, Woodrow.

He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, John, Donald, Robert, and Norman Schnurrenberger; and his father and mother-in-law, William and Thelma Johns, with whom he had a very special relationship.
