Donald David Lowry, Sr., 82, of Warren, OH passed away at home on Thursday, September 16, 2010, following an extended illness. He was born February 10, 1928 in Youngstown, OH to the late Dominic and Mary Agnes (Nolan) Lowry. He attended school in Youngstown and was stationed in Germany as a Corporal in the Army's 28th Infantry during the early 1950's. He was a machinist by trade and retired from Wean Engineering. Mr. Lowry was an avid golfer and served many years as Secretary of the Warren City League. Through the years he was most often seen at the former "Eastwood Golf Course," then at "Old Avalon" and most recently at "Northwood Golf Course." He had the distinction of scoring two "holes in one" within one year at age 80 on the ninth hole at Northwood. In 1952 he married Avelyn Thompson of Warren. He is survived by his wife and three children, Janyce (William) Kingsbery of Warren, Donald Lowry, Jr. also of Warren and Valerie (Carl) Rausch of Aurora, OH, three grandchildren, Grainger Kingsbery, Kirsten Cheeks and John Rausch, and two great grand children. Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, September 21, 2010 at 10:00 AM at Roberts-Clark funeral chapel. Burial will take place in the Pineview Memorial Park. The family requests that charitable remembrances be made to "First Tee of Mahoning Valley," 1300 N. State Street, Girard, OH 44420-3642, 330-545-5000.
