Dorothy M. Ellis, 86, of Austintown, Ohio, passed away on the early morning of March 20th, 2024 at Briarfield Manor in Austintown, Ohio. She was born in Youngstown, Ohio on May 18th, 1937, the daughter of the late Fred Schmidt and Mary Schmidt of Austintown, Ohio. She was a 1954 Austintown Fitch High School graduate and spent her life as a homemaker.
She went on to marry her husband Charles “Charlie” W. Ellis on June 21st, 1958, after meeting him at a wedding, her family stating that, “he saw her and that was it.” They went on to have 3 children, Mark Ellis, Craig Ellis, and Leigh (Eric) Thorpe, with whom she raised with love and kindness. Her and Charlie spent 35 years together, making the most of their time together with their families, before his passing on December 14th,1993.
Dorothy was a proud military wife, a devoted member of the Redeemer Lutheran Church, an avid member of card clubs, and a phenomenal baker and cook. She was noted for feeding everyone. Her absolute favorite activity though, was spending time with her entire family, with whom she carried an unwavering love for.
She leaves behind to carry on her beautiful and shining memory, her 3 children; her grandchildren; Matthew (Stephanie) Ellis and Emma Thorpe; her siblings, Daniel (Phyllis) Schmidt, Roger (Marcia) Schmidt, Barbara Blick, and Judy Proverbs; and a great grandson on the way.
Friends and family may call Monday March 25th, 2024 from 10 AM to 11 AM at Redeemer Lutheran Church 2305 S Canfield-Niles Rd, Youngstown, OH 44515, with a service to follow at 11 AM.
