TRUSSVILLE, AL. - Douglas Allen Bowser, Sr., 63, passed away suddenly on Tuesday, September 2, 2014. Doug was born on April 18, 1951 to Robert Bowser and the late, Elva (Grossman) Bowser in Somerset, Pennsylvania. Doug graduated from Mathews High School in Vienna, Ohio in 1969. He was a plant manager with Ajax Tocco (Magnethermic) having worked in Ohio, North Carolina and Alabama for over 37 years. He loved to golf and had an amazing sense of humor that will never be forgotten. Doug is survived by his wife of 41 years, LuAnn (Furrie) Bowser; father, Robert Bowser; children, Douglas Bowser, Jr., and Alecia (Noah) LaFon; Pap's Princess aka granddaughter, Averey LaFon; beloved dog, Oakie; sisters, Karen (Richard) Vucco and Christine (Dennis) Berry; father-in-law, John Furrie, Jr. and mother-in-law, Gloria (Felice) Furrie; brothers-in-law, John (Linda) Furrie III, Mark (Theresa) Furrie, Sr. and Jeffrey (Patricia) Furrie; and many extended family members. He was preceded in death by his mother, Elva (Grossman) Bowser on May 15, 2010 and his grandparents. Calling hours will be at the Lane Family Funeral Homes, Shafer-Winans Chapel, 164 North High Street, Cortland, Ohio 44410, on Sunday, September 7, 2014 from 4:00PM to 7:00PM. Funeral services will be held on Monday, September 8, 2014 at 11:00AM at the funeral home with calling hours beginning at 10:00AM. Burial will follow at the Vienna Township Cemetery.
