Edward W. Clay

Austintown- Funeral services will be held 1:30 PM Tuesday at the Lane Funeral Home-Austintown Chapel for Edward W. Clay, age 79 of Austintown who died early Saturday morning at Austinwoods Care Center. Edward was born May 2, 1929 in Beaver Twp. OH and was the son of Noah and Bertha (McClish) Clay. He retired in 1980 from U.S. Steel-McDonald Works after 32 years where he had been a machine operator and later worked for Austinwoods in housekeeping for 8 years. He had lived in this area all of his life and was of the Lutheran Faith. Edward is survived by his wife, Ruby (Grubb) Jones Clay whom he married April 6, 1956. He also leaves five children, Ruby (Bill) McDonnell of N. Canton, OH, Sam (Pam) Clay of Youngstown, William (Cheryl) Clay of Columbiana, Thomas Clay and Penny Clay both of Austintown, two sisters; Betty Coy of Salem, Irene Foy of Austintown, four brothers; George Clay of North Lima, Vernon Clay of Nelsonville, OH, Harry Clay of Canfield, Norman Clay of Austintown, two grandchildren; John Jones of Canfield, Marley (Drew) Ridgley of Boardman and four Great grandchildren; Ayden, Jordyn, Ryan and Owen Jones. He was preceded in death by his parents and a son John Jones. Friends may call at the funeral home from 5-8 PM Monday and 12:30-1:30 PM Tuesday prior to the services at the funeral home.
