Eula June Opel

Eula June Opel, 95, of Johnstown Township, passed away on Saturday November 21, 2015 at Mercy Heath Center in Youngstown, Ohio. Eula was born on July 29, 1920 in Belair, OH a daughter of the late Virgil and Ethel (Rauschenberg) Bedlion. Eula was a 1938 graduate of Mecca High School. She worked for the Agriculture office in Cortland after graduation. Eula worked as a cook for Maplewood East School for 21 years and she sold Avon for 55 years. She was a proud Christian and a member of Johnston Federal United Methodist Church but went back to attending her childhood church, Mecca Community. In her free time she enjoyed cooking, selling her Avon products to her friends and traveling. Her most precious time was spent with her family and friends who she loved and adored. She will be sadly missed by her only daughter Lana J. Opel of Johnston Township, whom she made her home with. Eula will also be missed be several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents Eula was preceded in death by her husband, the love of her life, Milton A. Opel, whom she married on January 10, 1945. Milton died on October 5, 1996 they were married for 51 happy years. She was also preceded in death by a sister Roberta Cribley and a brother Virgil Bedlion. Family and friends may call Wednesday, November 25, 2015 from 11:00 to 1:00 pm at Mecca Community Church 5920 Phillips Rice Rd, Cortland, OH 44410. Funeral services will begin at 1:00 pm with Pastor Steven Garces officiating. Interment will be held at Johnstown Township Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Eula's name to the Johnstown Fire Department and EMS. This organization was very dear to Eula's heart, as she was an original Johnstown Fire Axillary member. Care was trusted to Lane Family Funeral Homes, Shafer-Winans Chapel.
