Masury - The Very Reverend Fr. Vladimir Demshuk, 80, beloved husband, father, and grandfather, of Masury, Ohio died on October 9th, 2024 following a long illness.
He was a retired priest of the Serbian Orthodox Diocese of Eastern America after 37 years of continuous ministry at parishes across the United States.
Fr. Vladimir was raised in Masury, Ohio where his calling to the priesthood after graduating high school in 1962 led him to attend St. Vladimir’s Orthodox Theological Seminary in Yonkers, NY. He later graduated from Youngstown State University with bachelor’s degrees in Russian Language and Literature and Psychology, and from Michigan State University, a bachelor’s degree in Religion, ultimately earning a master’s degree in Humanities from the University of Detroit in 1981.
Fr. Vladimir is survived by his loving wife and companion, Protinica Katherine (Parimuha) Demshuk, his children Larisa (Marc) Patacchiola of Sudbury, MA and Jonathan Demshuk of Canfield, OH along with his grandchildren, Elianna Pei-Jyun and Samantha Leigh, both of whom were blessed to spend their early years knowing him. He is also survived by his sister, Martha (Herbert) Lepp of Odenton, MD and brother-in-law John Parimuha of Hermitage, PA.
He is predeceased by his mother Anna and father Walter along with numerous extended family members.
Father Vladimir loved to read and listen to music. He was a keen observer and found a friend in everyone, always talking to and learning from anyone he met in every walk of life. He loved celebrations of every kind, especially the many baptisms and weddings he performed throughout his ministry.
Visitation will be held from 5-7 PM Wednesday, October 16th, 2024, with vigil prayers immediately following at St. George Serbian Orthodox Church at 65 S. Keel Ridge Road, Hermitage, PA. On Thursday, October 17th, 2024, Visitation will be held from 10-11 AM with funeral services at 11 AM at St. George Serbian Orthodox Church. Interment following at St. John’s Orthodox Church cemetery in Hermitage, PA.
Memorial Donations may be made to St. George Serbian Orthodox Church in Hermitage, PA or to the Alzheimer’s Association.
