JERRY, George Jr. Lt. Colonel George Jerry Jr., U.S. Army, retired, of Roswell, GA formerly of Ellsworth, OH passed away peacefully on October 10, 2007. George was born to the late George Sr. and Elizabeth Rose Jerry on March 24, 1918. After graduating from Canfield High School, he was employed by Kane Secret Service before entering the U.S. Army. The 'Colonel' served his country proudly in both World War II and Korea, where he was awarded the Bronze Star for Bravery. He went on to complete a distinguished 24 year career in the Army and retired in 1966 as a Lt. Colonel in Military Intelligence at Fort McPherson in Atlanta, Georgia. A loving husband, father and grandfather, George devoted his life to providing for and helping his family. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Evelyn Mae Jerry and sister, Elizabeth Curry of West Palm Beach, FL. He is survived by sons, Doug Jerry of Roswell, GA and Dwight Jerry of Marietta, GA; daughter, Dianne Jerry of Cartersville, GA; his precious granddaughters, Catherine Elizabeth Jerry and Natalie Darnell Jerry; brother, Alex Jerry of Campbell, OH; sister, Pearl Long of Lake Worth, FL; and his beloved special friend, Mary Ann Ansell of Roswell, GA. He will be buried with full Military Honors on Tuesday, October 16 at Dean Hill Cemetery in Canfield, Ohio following an 11:00 a.m. funeral service at Lane Funeral Home - Canfield Chapel. Visitation with family and friends is Monday, October 15 at Lane Funeral Home - Canfield Chapel 5 - 8 p.m.
