Austintown- Funeral services will be held at 1 pm Monday at the Lane Funeral Home Austintown Chapel for Harry Stenger Jr. of Austintown who died Friday morning at his residence. Harry was born July 30, 1936 in Youngstown the son of Harry O. and Lucille (Haldon) Stenger. He was employed as a police officer for Austintown Township for 32 years retiring in 1998, prior to this he was Vice President of Valley Industrial Trucks for many years. Harry was a member of the Fraternal Order of Police Lodge # 126, was an avid fisherman, boater, sharpshooter and loved to do wood working. He graduated from South High School and was a Staff Sergeant in the U. S. Air Force. Harry is survived by his wife of 46 years Ann (Desmond) Stenger whom he married April 26, 1958 in England, children; Harry (Casey) and Paula Stenger, Mark E. and Connie Stenger both of Austintown, Bridgett and Randy Pugh of Mineral Ridge, sister Geraldine Jordan of Austintown, grandchildren; Heather, James, David, Carly, Nathan, Cody, Samantha and many nieces and nephews. Harry was preceded in death by his parents and sister Marilyn Garling. The Stenger family would like to thank the doctors, nurses, Hospice of the Valley and all their friends who were supporting them during Harry’s illness. Family and friends may call from 11 am to 1 pm Monday at the funeral home. The family requests that memorial contributions be made to Hospice of the Valley.
