Helen Louise Wade

Helen Louise (Pfaff) Wade, 83, of Cortland, passed away Monday morning, February 27, 2012 in Trumbull Memorial Hospital after an extended illness. Born August 14, 1928 in Greenville, PA, Helen was the daughter of the late Robert and Martha (White) Pfaff. Helen retired from Cortland Bank where she worked for many years. She was a dedicated member of the Cortland Christian Church and belonged to the Christian Women's Fellowship. She enjoyed playing the organ and singing in the church choir. Helen was preceded in death on June 5, 1998 by her husband, Richard Robert Wade, whom she married in 1950. Together they shared 48 years of marriage and six children. She will be dearly missed by her children, twin sons Richard B. (Nancy) Wade of Jacksonville, AR and Bob (Trudy) Wade of Mecca Township, OH, Karen S. (Gilbert) Johnson of Johnston Township, OH, Gayle A. (Lynn) Johnson and Thomas C. (Shirley) Wade both of Cortland, OH and Pamela M. (Randy) Rappach of Howland Township, OH, eleven grandchildren, two step-grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, three step-great grandchildren and three sisters; Beverly Smith of Gettysburg, PA, Thomasine Pfaff of Cortland, OH, and Sue Johnson of Hackettstown, NJ. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and two sisters. According to her wishes Helen has been cremated and a memorial service will be held Saturday, March 3, 2012 at Shafer-Winans Funeral Chapel, 164 N. High Street, Cortland, OH 44410 where family and friends may visit for two hours prior to the service from 1 until 3 P.M. Burial will take place in Hillside Cemetery at a later date.
