Hugh "Bill" W. Brown, of Boardman, passed away unexpectedly from a heart attack at 2:45 p.m. Saturday, July 3, 2010 in the emergency room of St. Elizabeth Medical Center Boardman Campus. He was 83 years old. Bill was born on March 14, 1927 in Youngstown, the son of the late Hugh D. and Edna (Daff) Brown and was a graduate of East High School. Bill retired after 32 years of service with Stiver Chevrolet in Niles where he was a car salesman. He was a veteran of World War II serving in the United States Navy as a Carpenter's Mate Third Class. He received for his service to his country the honorable discharge button, service button and the service emblem. He was honorably discharged on June 4, 1946. Bill was a 50 year member of the St. Albans Lodge of the F & AM. He was a member of the Aut Mori Grotto in Youngstown and was a Youngstown Consistacy 32nd Degree Mason. He was an avid golfer and recorded two holes in ones at Hubbard Golf Course. Bill was of the Christian faith and a proud and faithful member of the Canfield Presbyterian Church, where he was an elder and drove the church bus. Bill was married on February 25, 1950 to the former Sara "Sally" McCreary, and they were married for 51 years until her passing on July 21, 2001. Bill is survived by a daughter Gail L. (John) Kane of Austintown and a grandson Logan Kane of Austintown. Besides his parents and wife, Bill was preceded in death by two brothers Robert J. and Thomas J. Brown. Calling hours for Bill will take place on Wednesday, July 7, 2010 from 5 until 7 p.m. in the Lane Funeral Home Canfield Chapel, 65 N. Broad St. Canfield, Ohio, 44406. A Funeral Service will take place on Thursday, July 8, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. at the Canfield Presbyterian Church, 140 W. Main Street, Canfield, Ohio 44406. The family suggests that memorial contributions take the form of donations in Bill's name to the Canfield Presbyterian Church.
