Mr. Jack B. Layne, 76, of Youngstown, died Friday morning, May 31st, at St. Elizabeth Health Center in Boardman.
He was born March 19, 1948 in Chicago, IL, the son of Thomas and Lauree (Garling) Layne.
Jack was a 1966 graduate of Boardman High School, and he obtained a Master of Psychology degree from Youngstown State University. He was the owner/instructor of Track Time Racing Schools, which he operated for 30 years, prior to retiring in 2006.
He had attended the Church of the Rock in Poland. He had also been a drummer in a rock band, The Glass Frogs. Jack was an avid model race car collector, and he enjoyed rooting for his favorite sports teams, the Cleveland Browns and Ohio State Buckeyes. His greatest joy was his family, especially his grandson, whom he dearly loved.
Jack is survived by his son, William T. Layne of Youngstown, and his grandson, Max.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Jill Bodine.
Jack was a caring, kindhearted man who loved his family and friends. He will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Memorial services will be held at a later date at the Church of the Rock, 7025 Luteran Ln., Youngstown, OH 44514.
