James Ritch of 795 Syme Street, Masury, Ohio, died Monday in the Sharon Regional Health Care System, after a brief illness. He was 85. Mr. Ritch was born in Vanderbuilt, Pennsylvania on March 31, 1920, a son of Joseph and Lucy (Conte) Ritch. He was a Labor Leader for Sharon Steel for 40 plus years before retiring in 1983. During the beginning of his work career, Jim served our country in the U.S. Coast Guard. His memberships included, United Steel Workers Local #1197, and he was a Catholic by faith. In his spare time, Jim enjoyed sports, working around the house, gardening, and playing baseball in his younger years for various clubs around the valley. Survivors include: wife, Anne (Kulich) Ritch, whom he married September 16, 1955; 2 daughters, Dr. Donna L. Ritch, Greenbay, Wisc., & Jamie A. Ritch-Duvall & her husband David, Warren, OH. He was preceded in death by his parents; 5 brothers, Anthony, Paul, Michael “Babe”, Joseph & Nicholas Ritch; and 3 sisters, Ruth Petras, Mary Davies, & Rose Dubrasky.
