Jamie Rae (Grocott) Bunker, 56, of Howland Twp. passed away 10:45 PM Tuesday January 27, 2009 at the Cleveland Clinic Downtown Campus ending a year long battle with cancer. Jamie was born January 23, 1953 in Warren the daughter of William and Roselyn (Gonella) Grocott. A lifetime area resident, she was a 1971 graduate of Howland High School. In 1975 Jamie received a dual Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education and Special Education and in 1988 she earned a Masters Degree in Curriculum from Youngstown State University. She taught at Fairhaven School her entire educational career at various levels. In February 1991 she was promoted to the position of Transition Coordinator, where she would remain until her retirement in 2008. Her accomplishments over the years were many. She was a Warren Little Panther Cheerleader from 1962-1965. She was the 1st Bolindale and Deforest Homecoming Queen in 1966. She was a foreign exchange student to Spain in 1969 and in1993 she received the Golden Apple Teacher of the Year award presented by NEOSERRC for her outstanding efforts in serving students with disabilities. Jamie loved spending time reading, shopping, making jewelry, traveling, writing poems, attending car shows with her husband, and playing slot machines. Her favorite destinations included Las Vegas, Florida, Hawaii, and Maine. She was a founding member of the Howland Roadhounds Car Club with her husband Bruce. Her most favorite thing to do however was to spend time with the loves of her life-her two grandchildren, Gavin and Haidyn. On July 12, 1975, she married her best friend since 1966, Bruce Myles Bunker and they had two sons, Benjamin Myles and Brett William. Jamie will be sadly missed by her loving family, husband Bruce, sons and daughters-in-law Benjamin Myles and Amanda of West Farmington, Brett William and Megan of Champion Twp., grandson Gavin, granddaughter Haidyn, sister and brother-in-law Deborah Ann and Bruce Gilger of Howland, one niece, four nephews, six great nieces, and four great nephews. She was preceded in death by her father William July 17, 1975, her mother Roselyn Dec.27, 1998, and by her dog Rusty. The Rev. Don King will celebrate a mass of Christian Burial 10:00 AM Saturday Jan. 31, 2009 at Blessed Sacrament Church. Friends will be received from 4-8 PM Friday at Roberts-Clark Chapel and from 9-10 AM Saturday at the Church. Interment will be in Howland Twp. Cemetery. In lieu of flowers material contributions may be made to the Fairhaven Foundation, 45 North Rd. Niles, OH 44446 Att. Linda Tiihonen.
