John E. Diver, 89 of Canfield died Saturday afternoon, March 16, 2024 at St. Elizabeth/Mercy Health Medical Center, Youngstown. John was born October 28, 1934 in Youngstown, a son of the late Orrie and Mabel (Bunts) Diver and was a lifelong area resident.
He was owner/operator of Diver Steel City Auto Crushers, Inc. for 52 years. John was an avid demolition derby driver and very proud that his sons, David, Billy, Bobby and his grandson, Jason followed in his footsteps. He looked forward to Friday nights at the racetrack, watching his son race, never missing a race. He loved hunting, and fishing.
He will be missed by his wife of 69 years, the former Norma Penny, whom he married November 1, 1954; his daughter, Rebecca Main of Ellsworth; five sons, Terry Diver, Jimmy Diver, Bobby (Kim) Diver, Billy Diver and David (Shannon) Diver all of Canfield; nine grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren and his beloved French Bull Dogs, Lacey and Noel. Besides his parents, Orrie Diver and Mabel Spellman, he was preceded in death by a son, John Diver, Jr.; a son-in-law, Tim Main; a sister, Evelyn Lippiatt and a great-granddaughter, Harper. There will be a service in the chapel at Ellsworth Cemetery on Monday, March 25th at 11:00 a.m.
