Joseph H. Colson, 96, of Warren, died Monday, March 21, 2011. Mr. Colson was born January 18, 1915 in Niles, the son of James V. Colson, Sr. and Rose Colson Carida and moved to Warren in 1927. He was a 1933 graduate of Warren G. Harding High School. Mr. Colson married Agnes M. Sotak on February 19, 1938, and built the house in which he raised eight daughters with his wife. They had been married 65 years upon her death in 2003. He was a member of St. Mary's Church where he participated in many activities and organizations including choir, St. Vincent de Paul Society and Eucharistic and Pastoral Ministry. He enjoyed woodworking, clock-making and was an avid gardener. He retired from Warren City Water Department as Chief Plant Mechanic in 1987. Mr. Colson is survived by one sister, Hoyland Sotak of Niles; seven daughters, Mrs. Bernard (Alberta) Dillon of Wallkill, NY, Mrs. Martin (JoAnne) Ondrejko of Warren, Mrs. Dennis (Bernice) Bell of Painesville, Mrs. John (Maryln) Cook of Howland, Mrs. Ernest (Annette) Gilkes of Lorain, Jolene Burton of Cincinnati and Roseanne Colson of Niles; 20 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Arleen Alvarez, three brothers, James Jr., Alfred and Anthony; and one sister, Eleanor Huff. Friends will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Roberts-Clark Funeral Chapel. Rev. Bernard Schmalzried will conduct a Mass of Christian burial Friday, March 25, 2011 at 10 a.m. at St. Mary's Church in Warren. Burial will be held in All Souls Cemetery. Memorial contributions can be given to St. Vincent de Paul Society or St. Mary's Church in Warren.
