June E. Pilgrim, 95, of Struthers, passed away on August 7, 2024, at Briarfield Place in Boardman.

 Born January 9, 1929, in Youngstown, Ohio, she was the daughter of Percy and Hilda (Bacher) Pilgrim.

 June graduated from Chaney High School in 1947. After high school, June pursued her education by attending Youngstown College where she received her bachelor’s degree and then obtained her master’s degree from the University of Pittsburgh. June worked as a social worker most of her life helping others in need, including 34 years of service at Parkview Counseling. In addition, she received the 1998 Lifetime Achievement Award from the Ohio Chapter of the National Association of Social Workers.

 Those who will cherish her memory are her nephew and nieces: Glenn (Barb) Patton, Mary Durick, Susan Patton (Rick Tkach), and grandnephews: Christopher (Emily) Patton and Mark Patton. June was preceded in death by her 2 sisters: Betty Pilgrim, Marjorie Patton, and her parents.

 June enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles, gardening, traveling the world, attending the Youngstown Playhouse, and visiting with friends and family. She faithfully attended services at Pilgrim Collegiate Church and Faith Community Church and sang in the choir for many years. In recent years, she participated in Sunday School at First Covenant Church. She was a lifelong student of God’s word. 

 A Celebration of Life will be held at Green Haven Memorial Gardens in Canfield, Ohio in late November of 2024.
