A Mass of Christian Burial will be said at 10am Thursday at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Austintown for Katherine T. Patzak, 88, who died Saturday afternoon at St. Elizabeth Medical Center in Youngstown. She was born October 12, 1921 in Youngstown, a daughter of John and Gladys (Davulski) Suszczynski, and she resided in this area all of her life. She was a 1939 graduate of Campbell Memorial High School. During the war she worked as a welder for Truscon Steel. She also worked as a service clerk for Atlantic Mills and as a merchandiser for K Mart department stores for 30 years. She was a member of St. Joseph Church where she was active in the choir and with the Dust Busters, cleaning the church for many years. She was also a member of TOPS and she and her husband were avid ballroom dancers. She married Matthew Patzak on January 12, 1945 and he preceded her in death July 28, 1987. She is survived by four children; Connie Patzak of Austintown, Matthew Patzak of Mansfield, Robert Patzak of Austintown, and Cheryl Figueroa, also of Austintown. She also leaves behind a brother, Walter (Marge) Suszczynski of Philadelphia; a sister, Blanche Wilhelm of New York; ten grandchildren; and six great grandchildren. Besides her husband, Katherine was preceded in death by two brothers; Martin and Ted Suszczynski; and a daughter-in-law, Patricia Patzak.
