Logan G. Matas, 27, loving son and brother, peacefully passed away to eternal life on Sunday, July 14th at his residence.

He was born on June 6th, 1997 in Warren, the second child of Richard and Jennifer Matas whom lovingly raised Logan and his brother, Doug, in Berlin Center.

He obtained his formal education in the Western-Reserve School System, graduating from Western-Reserve High School in 2016. He was a varsity letterman in football and baseball. Logan went on to enlist in the military, joining the United States Marine Corps after graduating high school. He served in the Marines at the Naval Air Station Pensacola, FL and Camp Pendleton Oceanside, CA. He obtained employment at Ultium Cells in Lordstown as a technician of lithium-ion automotive batteries.

Among his favorite pastimes were sports; football, basketball and baseball. He enjoyed attending Cleveland Cavs and Guardians games. He also enjoyed playing video games and creating “beats” music with his friends.

Family and friends will remember Logan for his comical nature, his determination to use hot sauce on every food item, his willingness to assist others, and the enjoyable conversations and story telling he had with his many acquaintances.

Treasured memories of Logan will be carried on by his loving and caring family, his beloved brother, Doug, and his step-sister Alena and her husband Ty, his mother Jennifer and step-dad Kermit, cousins; Nick, Jake, Michael, Thomas, Alissa, Michelle, Jennifer, Paula, Lisa, Eric and Kristen.

Logan was preceded in death by his father, Richard Matas, his grandparents, John and Frances Matas and Leonard and Arlene Yochman, and his Uncle, Joe Yochman.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Tuesday, July 23rd at the Lane Funeral Home Austintown Chapel, 5797 Mahoning Ave., Austintown.

Friends and family may call 5 – 7 PM Monday July 22nd at the funeral home.
