Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM on Tuesday at St. Michael’s Catholic Church for Margaret J. Davis, who passed away on Tuesday at Shepherd of the Valley in Boardman. Mrs. Davis was born November 14, 1916 in Mercer County Pennsylvania, a daughter of Thomas and Margaret J. (Gallagher) McWilliams. Her husband, Paul E. Davis, to whom she was married July 20, 1946, died November 28, 1991. She was a graduate of the Shenango Valley Commercial Institute, Sharon, PA, and worked as a private secretary at the No. 18 Mill for U.S. Steel Corporation’s McDonald Works for 31 years, retiring in 1976. Mrs. Davis was a member of St. Michael’s Church in Canfield where she had served as secretary to their parish council; and for many years as a board member and press secretary to both St. Michael’s Garden Guild and Altar Guild. She was a past president of Yo-Mah-O Chapter, Professional Secretaries International, was honored by that group as Secretary of the Year during secretaries week in 1975, served on their Board of Directors and as publicity and scrapbook chair for many years, and for one year as chair for Ohio Division, PSJ, retirement Center. She was past regent of the Poland-Canfield Chapter, Daughters of American Revolution, and a current member of the Mahoning Chapter of the D.A.R. and member of the board and publicity chair for the Canfield Republican Women for many years. She was also a member of the Mahoning County Genealogical Society and the Canfield and Boardman AARP groups. Margaret leaves a sister Sr. Mary Clare McWilliams of Erie, PA, a nephew John W. McWilliams Jr, of Mercer, PA, and nieces: Mrs. Luann Franklin of Hermitage, Kathy McWilliams Roth of Mercer, PA, Mary Ann Madden of Salsbury MD, and Margaret McWilliams of Rossiter, PA. She was preceded in death by four brothers: Thomas, James, Atty. John W. and Richard McWilliams as well as two sisters: Martha McWilliams and Ann T. Vath. Friends and family may call from 5-8 PM on Monday at the Lane Funeral Home Canfield Chapel as well as from 9 to 9:30 at the funeral home prior to the services in church on Tuesday. Memorial contributions may be sent to the Ministries of the Sisters of Mercy at 444 East Grandview Blvd. Erie, PA 16504.
