Margaret Nancy Hopwood Banko, "Peggy", age 74 of Austintown, Ohio, died on Friday, August 21, 2015 at 4:15 PM at St. Elizabeth Health Center in Youngstown. She was born on October 21, 1940 in Youngstown, the daughter of the late Granville and Stacia Cerech Hopwood. Peggy was a member of the Salvation Army Church in Youngstown and she was also a former member of the West Side Baptist Church. She enjoyed making ceramics and spending time with her family and ladies group from the church. She was an avid animal lover. Survivors include her son, John (Alice) Banko of Boardman; two granddaughters, Melanie Banko and Samantha Banko both of Boardman; eight siblings, Delores (Rick) Vance of Granada Hills, CA, Louise Hanuschak of Youngstown, Ruth Makrias of Waterford, MI, Bill (Marge) Hopwood of Emmet, ID, Janice Sanguinetti of Youngstown, Kenneth Hopwood of Youngstown, Kathleen (Jerry) Lipkovich of Youngstown, and Linda Lozano of Youngstown. Other than her parents, Peggy was preceded in death by one brother, Tom Hopwood. Memorial services will be held at 6:00 PM on Monday, August 24, 2015 at the New Covenant Worship Center in Youngstown where Major Stella McGuire will celebrate Peggy's life. Margaret's cremated remains will be buried in Tod Homestead Cemetery alongside her parents. In lieu of flowers please make a memorial contribution to any of the local animal charities in the area in Peggy's memory. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Lane Family Funeral Homes-Austintown Chapel.
