Marjorie M. Sampson, age 89 of Champion, Ohio, died on Monday, July 1, 2013 at the Cortland Health Care Center at 4:20 AM. She was born on June 27, 1924, the daughter of the late Howard Clay and Jessie Fern Hendershot May. Marjorie was an Austintown Fitch High School graduate and she also graduated from KSU in 1975 with a degree in education working in the Warren City Schools for 10 years. She worked with the neurologically handicapped children in the district. Mrs. Sampson enjoyed sewing and she was a great cook. Mrs. Sampson was a member of the Otterbein United Methodist Church. Survivors include her two children, Sherry (Russell, Sr.) Champlin of Champion, and Howard Dean (Barbara) Sampson of Fowler; two grandchildren, Laura Nicole Sampson and Thomas Dean Sampson both of Fowler; one brother, Glenn (Doris) May of Austintown and her sister-in-law, Elmira May of Danielsville, GA. Other than her parents, Marjorie was preceded in death by her husband, A. Dean Sampson on February 16, 2001, they were united in marriage on November 27, 1945; and her brother, Dale May. Funeral services will be held at the Lane Family Funeral Homes, Shafer-Winans Chapel in Cortland at 11 AM, Wednesday, July 3, 2013 where family and friends may visit one hour prior to the service. Pastor Dan Wilson will celebrate Marjorie's life. Mrs. Sampson will be laid to rest next to her husband in the Champion Twp. Cemetery.
