Mitchel L. Callow, 73, died on Wednesday, November 27, 2013 at Indiana University Ball Memorial Hospital in Muncie, Indiana. He was born on July 18, 1940 in Niles, Ohio the son of Leon and Katherine (Desovich) Callow and lived his entire life in Niles and recently moved to Albany, Indiana to be with his son, Michael Callow. Mitchel is survived by his son, Michael (April) Callow of Indiana, with five grandchildren; Conner, Maci, Molly, Daisy, and Wyatt Callow; two step daughters, Stacey (Mike) Bisker and Linda (David) Amodio, with four granddaughters; Madeline and Caleigh Hogan, and Erika and Kaitlin Amodio; seven brothers, one sister, and an aunt; Carl Callow Sr., Eugene (Vasiliki) Callow, Earl Callow Sr., Cyril (Darlene) Callow, Joseph (Beverly) Callow, Veliko (Karen) Callow, Blagoy (Rose) Callow, and Kalina (George) Braun, and Anna Szekely. Mitchel is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews in the surrounding State of Ohio. He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife Barbara (LaPorte) Callow. Mitchel served with distinguished honor in the US Army 25th Division, Station Field Artillery 11th Battalion 105mm Howitzer. He was a crane operator for the Youngstown Sheet and Tube Company until it closed and worked for McDonald Steel until retiring in 2008. Mitchel was an active member in Croatian Fraternal Union Lodge #598 of McDonald. He also enjoyed fishing, gardening, and spending time with his grandchildren. A memorial service will be held on Saturday December 7, 2013 at 3:00pm at the William Farr Masonic Lodge #672, 1350 Shannon Road Girard, Ohio where friends and family may gather to pay their last respects. Reverend Bob Adkins will be officiating. A private family graveside service will be conducted at a later date at the Niles Union Cemetery. Lane Family Funeral Homes, Niles Chapel, 415 Robbins Ave. Niles, Ohio 44446 handled the arrangements for Mitchel.
