Salem- Memorial services will be 11 am Saturday at the Lane Funeral Home Austintown Chapel for Myrtle Kirkwood formerly of Ellsworth and Zapata, TX. who died Tuesday morning in Salem Community Hospital. Myrtle was born April 29, 1918 in North Jackson the daughter of Josiah and Marie (Wilson) Fenton and was a life long area resident. Myrtle was a member of the Ellsworth United Methodist Church, Order of Eastern Star Salem Chapter 334. She was employed as a U.S. Postal clerk for the Ellsworth Post Office for 10 years where she served as acting Postmaster January 1, 1946 to May 6, 1947 and was also an Avon representative for 17 years. She is survived by children; Donald (Leila) of Salem with whom she made her home, Norma (William) Ross of Ellsworth, six grandchildren; Westly Kirkwood of Diamond, Patricia Kramer of Columbus, Daniel Kirkwood of Ft. Thomas, KY., Richard Crowther Jr. of Marysville, Melissa Crowther of Canfield and Joshua Taylor of Ellsworth, five great grandchildren, half sisters; Nancy Martin of Glenwood AK. and Patricia Greeson of Little Rock, AK. Myrtle was preceded in death by her husband Truman whom he she married November 14, 1940 died in 2002, and her half sister Edna Difford. Family and friends may call from 10-11 am prior to memorial services at the funeral home
