Paul D. Andrews

Mr. Paul D. Andrews, 81, of North Jackson, died Friday morning, September 27th, following a brief illness at the Hospice House in Poland. 

He was born October 18, 1942 in Youngstown, a son of John and Ann (Twist) Andrews.

Paul was a 1960 graduate of Woodrow Wilson High School. He then went on to achieve a Bachelor of Criminal Justice degree from Youngstown State University. He worked as a police officer with the Ohio State Highway Patrol for thirty years, retiring in 1997. After retiring Paul worked for the Mahoning County Prosecutor's Office as an investigator for twenty years. He was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps having served on the aircraft carrier USS Forrestal with his Marine detachment, and was honorably discharged in 1964.

He married the former Valerie J. Timmins on February 8, 1964. They shared 60 years of marriage and many wonderful memories together. He was a loving husband and sent his wife roses every year on their anniversary, never missing a year. She survives him. 

Paul taught criminal justice for a time at Kent State University. He was a lifetime member of the USS Forrestal Association, and served as member, past President, and trustee of the Crime Clinic of Youngstown. Paul was also an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting and served as a trustee with the Eastern Ohio Conservation Club.

Besides his wife, Paul is survived by two children; James (Tracey) Andrews, of Catawba, VA and Kelley (Robert) Ferguson, of Austintown. He also leaves behind two grandchildren; Kevin (Madison) Ferguson and Sydney (Rob) Berarducci; and his beloved dog and hunting companion, Shine.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, John Andrews, Jr.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Thursday, October 3rd at the Lane Funeral Home Austintown Chapel, 5797 Mahoning Ave., Austintown, with Pastor Joel Theis officiating. 

Friends may call 5 - 7 PM Wednesday, October 2nd and one hour prior to services on Thursday at the funeral home.

Paul will be laid to rest with full military honors in the Dean Hill Cemetery in Canfield.
