Services will be held Noon Tuesday at the Lane Funeral Home Austintown Chapel for Raymond L. Howells, 86, of Youngstown, formerly lived in Port St. Lucie Florida and Austintown, who passed away Friday afternoon in St. Elizabeth Medical Center Boardman Campus. Ray was born December 22, 1924 in Youngstown the son William T. and Margaret L. (Schrumm) Howells. He was a graduate of South High School and attended Western Reserve United Methodist Church. Ray was a member of the St. Alban's Free and Accepted Masons where he was a past master and a 32nd. Degree Mason. Ray retired in 1977 from Saramar Aluminum as a Die Setter after 32 years of service. He then moved to Port St. Lucie Florida where he worked for the City of Plantation in the Parks and Recreation Department for 13 years, retiring in 1990. His wife the former Harriet Frost, whom he married in October 1948, passed away in January of 2001. Ray leaves one son Randy (Patty) Howells of Salem, one sister JoAnn Thompson of Yorktown, Ind., five grandchildren; Brian and Jason Ball, Krista, Russ, and Curt Howells. Besides his parents and wife, Ray was preceded in death by a daughter Margaret E. Ball, and a brother W. Russell Howells. Friends may call from 5 to 8 PM Monday and again from 11 AM until Noon Tuesday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers the family suggest donations be made to the American Cancer Society in Ray's name.
