Austintown- Funeral services will be held 11 AM Monday at the Lane Funeral Home-Austintown Chapel for Raymond R. Asdell age 89 of Humility House, formerly of Walden Ct. in Youngstown who died early Friday morning at Humility House. Ray was born Nov. 2, 1915 in Poland, OH and was the son of Ralph and Phoebe (Danforth) Asdell. He had been a truck driver for Commercial Motor Freight retiring in 1975. He had previously worked for the P & LE Railroad, General Fireproofing and had worked on a farm. After Ray’s retirement, he worked for Lane Funeral Home for over 20 years. He was a member of Teamsters Local #377 and had served in the Army during WWII. His wife Edna (Henery) whom he married Dec. 18, 1937 died April 23, 1993. He is survived by a son Larry and his wife Lynn Asdell of Austintown, a sister Ada Miller of Canfield and a grandson Vince. He was preceded in death by five sisters, Helen Cook, Edna Wells, Alice Witzeman, Eleanor Cenis, Marion Rowedda and a brother Earl Asdell. Friends may call at the funeral home from 5-8 PM Sunday. The family requests that material contributions be made to Hospice of the Valley.
