Richard John “Killer” Kalosky Sr., 82, of Canfield, went home to meet his Lord and Savior early Saturday morning, February 17th, after a brief illness at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital in Youngstown.

Born June 6, 1941 in Youngstown, Ohio, Richard was the son of John and Elizabeth (Scherl) Kalosky. He was a 1959 graduate of Chaney High School.  He then went on to Youngstown State University where he achieved his Bachelor’s Degree in Education and later a Master’s Degree in Education from Westminster College.  He taught Mathematics at Warren G. He was a member of St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church in Austintown. He was the first President of the Theta XI fraternity at YSU, and was also a member of the Saxon Club and Catholic War Vets. Richard was a professional racquetball player and taught at Club South. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed handball, flowers, gardening, and making homemade wine. He loved the Ohio State Buckeyes and YSU Penguin Football; he was a proud YSU alumni.

Besides his wife, Richard is survived by his two children Lisa M. (Nicholas) Marks and Richard J. (Lisa) Kalosky Jr. He also leaves behind three siblings, Beth Ann Griffiths, John (Joyce) Kalosky and Marylynn (William) Long; five grandchildren Daniel (Monique) Marks, Vincent Marks, Richard J. Kalosky III, Marissa Marks, and Joseph Kalosky; two great grandchildren Ava and Carter Marks; several nieces and nephews, several great-nieces and great-nephews, and many wonderful friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Edward and Jerome Kalosky, and brother-in-law William Griffiths.

Richard will be remembered for his warm smile and larger-than-life personality and will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, February 22nd, at 11:00 AM, at St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church, 4545 New Road, Austintown.
