Robert A. Shone

Robert A. Shone -- 43 Girard—Services will be 11 am Thursday in Girard First United Methodist Church for Robert A. Shone, 43, of Girard who passed away Sunday evening at St. Elizabeth Health Center. Robert was born March 3, 1961 in Washington D.C. the son of John L. and Ouida L. (Lisenby) Shone. He was a Fire Protection Engineer most recently with Rolf Jenson and Associates. Robert spent most of his career as a civilian contractor with the U.S. Navy. He was also a volunteer fire fighter with the Kensington Station of the Montgomery County Fire Department. Robert received a Bachelors of Science Degree in Fire Protection Engineering from the University of Maryland and graduated at the top of his class from the Montgomery Fire Fighters Academy. Besides the church, Robert’s memberships included the Masons where he was a Knights Templer and a Master Mason, the Salamander Honors Society for Fire Protection Engineers, as well as the S.F.P.E. and the N.F.P.A. Robert leaves his wife, the former Wendy L. Young, whom he married March 3, 1993, his parents of Maryland, two sisters: Barbara Magee of Erie, PA, and Mary Fitzella of Vienna, VA, one brother John Michael Shone of Gaithersburg, MD. and ten nieces and nephews whom he loved very much. Family and friends may call from 6 to 8 pm Wednesday at the Lane Funeral Home Mineral Ridge Chapel where a Masonic service will be held at 8 pm and calling from 10 am until the start of services Thursday at the church. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to the church in Robert’s name.
