Youngstown-Funeral Services will be held at 10AM Thursday, October 20, 2005 in the Lane Funeral Home Austintown Chapel for Ruby R. Cooke, of Selkirk Rd in Youngstown, who passed away Sunday evening in Forum Health Northside Medical Center. Ruby was 81. Ruby was born on November 21, 1923 in Youngstown and was the daughter of Edward and Laura Dailey. Ruby was a graduate of South High School and also the Choffin School of Nursing where she received her Licensed Practical Nursing degree. Ruby was a homemaker and a former member of First Christian Church of Youngstown. Ruby was currently attended Boardman Christian Church and she enjoyed reading, knitting, and sewing. Ruby also enjoyed roller skating at the Austintown Roller Rink. Ruby will be deeply missed by her husband of 62 years C. Howard Cooke, whom she married on February 25, 1943; a son Dennis R. (Heidi A.) Cooke of Ballwin MO; a daughter Audrey L. (Charles P.) Renz of Garfield Heights; a sister Ruth Mae Pittman of Niles; nine grandchildren Trevor (Tammi) Cooke, Ryan Cooke, Connie (Brett) Smith, Daniel (Kimberly) Renz, Carrie Cooke, Amy (James) Whirrett, David Renz, Darren Renz, and Dennis Renz; and two great grandchildren, Tinley Cooke, and Madilyn Renz. Besides her parents, Ruby was preceded in death by a son Larry Howard Cooke. Family will receive friends from 2 to 4 PM and 7 to 9 PM Wednesday, October 19, 2005 at the funeral home. Ruby will be laid to rest in Forest Lawn Cemetery. Family suggests that memorial contributions be made in Ruby’s memory to the Optimist Club of Austintown.
