Thomas L Wilson

May 27, 1943 — July 13, 2010

Our hearts are full of sorrow as our beloved husband and father, Thomas L. Wilson, went home to be with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He passed away on July 13 at his home after a brief illness. Thomas was born May 27, 1943 only son of Mary E. (Gideon) and Thomas A. Wilson, and was a lifelong resident of Warren. He was a 1962 graduate of Warren Harding High School. He was married June 1, 1963 to his high school sweetheart, and beloved wife Donna Seman-Wilson, and was a loving and devoted husband of 47 years. He was honorably discharged from the U.S. Air force as a nuclear missile specialist. After military service, he attended Kent State University, and went on to be Ohio board certified in electrical engineering, earning both the EIT and PE (Professional Engineer) degrees. Afterwards, he began an illustrious 45 year career in electronics and engineering, where he was considered by all who know him to be a genius in his fields. He was employed for 30 years with the Copperweld Steel Corp. as an electronics and equipment specialist. While employed with Copperweld, he received many awards and accolades including Copperweld’s “Face Over the Gate” award in 1981 recognizing that year’s most outstanding employee. He then received their “Quality Award” in 1983 given to only one employee in recognition of lifetime work and achievement. From 1994 to the present, Thomas was employed by the Stoneridge Corporation as a project engineer. He traveled throughout the world working on research, development, and establishing manufacturing plants. He had and was associated with numerous developments and patents while employed. His greatest pride and love was his faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, followed by his love and devotion to this wife and two children. He took great pride that his long hours of work enabled both of his children to complete medical education and become doctors in the local community. Besides his wife Donna, who resides in the couples’ home built by Thomas in 1969, he leaves a daughter Doctor Deanne Wilson-Costello and her husband Doctor Frank Costello of Chagrin Falls, and Doctor Thomas J. Wilson, and his wife, Doctor Amy Krause of Warren. Thomas was a computer and technology enthusiast, as well as a builder, and avid fisherman. He enjoyed vacationing with his family, and spending time with his beautiful granddaughter, Anne Elizabeth. He was a member of Grace Fellowship Church in Warren, and belonged to the National Society of Professional Engineers, as well as the Ohio Society of Professional Engineers. He had a profound impact on everyone’s life who was fortunate enough to have know him. He will be deeply, deeply missed. Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Friday July 16, 2010 at Grace Fellowship Church. The Rev. John Temple will officiate. Friends will be received from 6-9 PM Thursday at Roberts-Clark Chapel and for 1 hour prior to the service at the Church. Interment will be in All Souls Cemetery. Material contributions may be made to Grace Fellowship Church 2150 Niles Cortland Rd. SE Warren, OH 44484.
