Tony Discerni, 85, of Champion Twp. died 2:15 PM Thursday May 11, 2006 at Windsor House of Champion following a short illness. He was born Feb.23, 1921 in Warren the son of Rocco and Rose (Pomponio) Discerni. A lifetime Warren area resident, he worked as a recorder for Copperweld Steel Corp. for over 30 years retiring in 1983. Tony was a US navy Veteran of WW2 and was a member of the Warren YMCA for over 60 years where he liked to play handball and racquetball. He also enjoyed fishing and sunbathing. He was of the Catholic faith. He is survived by his wife of 47 years Mae (Newton) Discerni whom he married May 28, 1959, a daughter Nancy M. Page of Clearwater, FL, a sister Angie Stefano and husband Daniel of Cortland, and nieces and nephews Dan (Karie) Stefano, Rosemary (Terry) Anderson, Tom (Pat) Stefano, John (Marie) Discerni, and Annette (Terry) Wilson. He was preceded in death by 2 brothers Frank and Orlando Discerni. Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Monday May 15, 2006 at Roberts-Clark Chapel where friends may call from 5:00-7:00PM Sunday. The Rev. George Popovich will officiate. Burial will be in St. Joseph’s Cemetery. Material contributions may be made to Hospice of the Valley 5190 Market St. Youngstown, OH 44512-2198.
