William Ferenczy

Services will be at 2 PM Thursday at the Lane Funeral Home Austintown Chapel for William “Bill” Ferenczy, 86, who passed away Monday morning at his home. Bill was born March 28, 1920 in Romania the son of Joseph and Bertha Ferenczy. He was a 1938 graduate of Girard High School and a veteran of the U.S. Navy serving during WWII. Bill retired from Con Rail as an Inspector in 1982. He enjoyed gardening, and building /construction. He was a member of the Hungarian Presbyterian Church and the Girard Old Timers Club. He leaves his wife the former Sophie Tobias whom he married September 16, 1948, two children; William J. (Linda Ferenczy of Slidell LA, and Diane Downing of Austintown, one brother; Joseph (Ann) Ferenczy and one sister Betty (Steve) Choban both of McDonald, four grandchildren; Holly (Chris) Butler, Sarah Ferenczy, William M. Ferenczy, and Courtney Downing, and one great grandchild; Mackenzie Butler. Bill also leaves his brother and sister-in-laws; Frank (Vickie) Tobias, and Betty Tobias, and Dorothy Ryznar all of Youngstown, and several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, Bill is preceded in death by two sisters; Bertha and Irene Ferenczy and two brothers; Steve and Ernest Ferenczy. Family and friends may call from 1PM until the time of services Thursday afternoon at the funeral home.
