Funeral services will be held at 3pm Monday in the Lane Funeral Home Austintown Chapel for William J. Boyle, Jr., 88, who died Thursday afternoon at his home. He was born December 18, 1920 in Youngstown, a son of William J., Sr. and Estella G. (Van Wye) Boyle, and he resided in this area all of his life. He was a 1939 graduate of Chaney High School and he was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corp serving during WW II. He worked for the Sears & Roebuck Co. as a major appliance salesman for 26 years before retiring in 1982. He was a longtime member of the Mahoning United Methodist Church. Among his many interests, Bill loved reading, poetry, music, and traveling. He was also a barbershopper singing with the Penn-Ohio Singers, and he was a passionate Ohio State Fan. He is survived by two daughters; Norma Jean Beardsley, with whom he made his home; and Carleen Penny of Mechanicsville, Va.; a brother Jim Boyle of Washington; a sister Toni Kerr of New Jersey; three grandchildren; one great grandchild; and two great great grandsons. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother Frank. Friends may call from 1-3pm Monday at the funeral home.
