William Virgil Johnson Jr., 79, of Canton, passed away Tuesday morning, September 7, 2010 at his home. Born September 26, 1930 in Lordstown, He was the son of the late William Virgil and Miriam (Heakin) Johnson Sr. A veteran of the United States Army, Bill worked as a parts manager for various automobile dealerships in the area. He was an avid sports fan, spent many years as an umpire and was involved with the Champion Hot Stove Baseball Association for more than 20 years. William will be dearly missed by his children, Ralph (Peggy) Johnson of Warren, Dan (Lisa) Johnson of Fayetteville, OH, Tammi Johnson of Orrville, OH, Tim (Emily) Johnson of Indianapolis, IN and Sally (James) Hawks of Warren, 20 grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Bill was preceded in death by his first wife, Sarah “Sally” (Kincaid) Johnson and by his second wife, Maxine (Meese) Johnson. He was also preceded by a brother Robert Johnson and a sister Alma Fleischmann. The Rev. Glenn Hamilton will conduct a funeral service Friday, September 10, 2010 at 12PM at the Roberts-Clark Funeral Chapel where family and friends may visit for two hours prior to the service from 10AM until 12PM. Burial will take place in the Crown Hill Burial Park where full military honors will be observed. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Roberts-Clark Funeral Chapel at 180 Garfield Drive NE Warren, OH 44484 to defray costs.
