A memorial mass will be held Tuesday evening at 7 PM at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Austintown for Bertha B. Rehfuss, formerly of Boardman, who passed away peacefully Saturday afternoon from heart failure.
Bertha was born September 12, 1916 in Philadelphia, PA a daughter of the late Jacob and Paula (Hier) Benz.
She was a founding member of St. Joseph Church, and a member of the Youngstown Saxon Club Ladies Guild. She enjoyed gardening, boating, and was an avid reader. She was a loving mother, who was devoted to her husband and family, and enjoyed spoiling her grandchildren. She pioneered catalog sales in Philadelphia for Sears and Roebuck and Co.
She is survived by three children: Terry (Charles) Hunter of Austintown, Fred A. (Marianne) Rehfuss II of Boardman and Mary R. (Norbert) Gresh of Austintown; eight grandchildren: Charles Jr., Carmel, Christine, Christopher, Matthew, Nicole (Mitch), Brad, and Jessica; and seven great granddaughters.
She is preceded in death by her husband, of 60 years, Fred A. Rehfuss Sr. who passed away on January 29, 2000, and a sister Lillian Strimple.
Family will receive friends at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Austintown from 6-7 PM Tuesday.
