Obituary

Austintown- Funeral services celebrating the life of Helen Swinehart will be held at 11am Monday at Austintown Community Church. Helen passed away peacefully Tuesday evening with her family by her side. She was born February 17, 1921 in St. Louis MO. the daughter of Louis Wilson Brown and Esther Reynolds Brown.

On Dec. 3, 1944 she married the love of her life, Arthur V. Swinehart after meeting him while she was doing volunteer work for the American Red Cross in St. Louis. Together they shared fifty years of marriage before Arthur died in 1994. The Swineharts spent forty years ministering at Austintown Community Church where Helen enjoyed being Rev. Swineharts wife.

Helen was involved in every phrase of the church which was very important to her. She also had been a Girl Scout Leader and Cub Scout Leader as her children grew, member of the Austintown Historical Society, worked in the kitchen serving meals to the Kiwanis club on Wednesdays and was a member of the Three Arts Club of Youngstown. After Rev. Swinehart retired they were very active at Chautauqua Institution in New York where Rev. Swinehart was Chaplin Administrator for U.C.C. and Helen as usual was his biggest helper.

She will be sadly missed by her children, Mary (Jack) Deville, John Swinehart, Jane (John) Tallman all of Austintown, Elizabeth Clark of Salem and David (Elzbieta) Swinehart of Linden NJ. Helen is also survived by grandchildren, John-Christian (Leann) Tallman, Travis Clark, John Reynolds Swinehart, Matthew Swinehart and great grandson Christian Tallman. She was preceded in death by her husband, brother Cecil Reynolds, sisters, Josephine May, Jayne Brown and son in law Frank Clark.

Family and friends may call from 2-5 pm Sunday at the Lane Family Funeral Home Austintown Chapel and from 10-11am Monday at the church prior to services, the Swinehart family requests that memorial contributions take the form of donations to Austintown Community Church Need Room or the Austintown Historical Society in Helens name.
