Obituary

CANFIELD-Services will begin at 8:30AM Saturday, November 15, 2008 in the Lane Funeral Home Canfield Chapel and continue with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9AM in St. Michael Catholic Church for Marie L. Modena, 87, of Canfield who passed into internal rest on Wednesday, November 12, 2008 at 12:45PM in St. Elizabeth Medical Center.
Marie was born December 4, 1920 in Niles the daughter of the late Vincent and Angelina Rivella Antonucci. She resided in the Youngstown area for most of her life and was a 1938 graduate of East High School.
Besides being a homemaker, Marie was head cashier with Electrolux Corporation during World War II. She was a member of St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, a former vice president of Garden Estates Garden Club and a former treasurer of St. Charles Garden Club. She was a member of Sons of Italy #858 Auxillary, Royal Seniors and St. Anthony Seniors. Marie also served as assistant Girl Scout Leader of Troop 91.
Along with her husband, Marie was a member of the Idora Ballroom Dance Association. The couple were performers and dancers with the Golden Age Follies "Salute to World War II". They also traveled extensively throughout Europe, the Caribbean, Mexico, Hawaii, Alaska and the United States.
Marie was married on November 11, 1944 to Louis J. Modena and they were married for 52 years until his passing on April 23, 1997.
Marie is survived by her loving daughter Karen (Anthony) Rulli of Canfield, a granddaughter Rochelle (John) Perrotta of Canfield, a brother Reginald (Linda) Antonucci of West Middlesex, a brother-in-law Albert (Alice) Modena of Massachusetts, two sisters-in-law Viola Ponte of Colorado and Gloria Pedrin of Massachusetts, a nephew Donald (Kathy) Antonucci of Boardman and many loving nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Besides her parents and husband, Marie was preceded in death by three sister, Natalie Modarelli, Clara Mancina and Rita Repasky; and also three brothers Anthony, Richard, and Donald Antonucci.
Family will receive friends on Friday, November 14, 2008 (TODAY) from 5 until 7 PM in the funeral home.
